Sir Ian McKellen


Sir Ian McKellen will be opening the 2016 Blenheim Palace Flower Show on Friday 17th June 2016.

Sir Ian is one of the most distinguished actors the UK has produced and he has held lead roles in an endless list of stage and screen productions. He is most recognised for his portrayal of Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sequels. He is also incredibly popular amongst X-Men fans for his portrayal of Magneto.

McKellen has won over sixty international acting awards including Olivier Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Cable Ace Award. In 2007 the Queen named McKellen a 'Companion of Honour' for his contribution to arts and for his dedicated work championing social diversity. Sir Ian has also previously been named 'UK Personality of the Year' by Variety and most recently, he achieved an Honorary Degree from Cambridge University which. recognised his the success of his lengthy career as an actor. 

McKellen stated "I am really looking forward to attending the Blenheim Palace Flower Show on Friday 17 June. It is 300 years since the birth of Capability Brown. It will be intriguing to see how he transformed the Palace‚Äôs parkland and how it looks today"


Tommy Walsh



Tommy Walsh will visit the show on Saturday 18th June.

Tommy will lead a talk in the show's Talk's theatre where he will be sharing his DIY and gardening expertise. 

Tommy is most recognised for his role as a presenter of the 1997 - 2005 BBC television show, Ground Force. Tommy has appeared and hosted a range of television shows including Tommy's DIY survival, Our House and My Life as a DIY Nutter.
